Leiblichkeit & Sexualität

Votivkirche, Vienna, Austria, 2014
Curated by David Rastas

Video projections conceal the stained glass windows in the ambulatory chapel and run on a mesmerising repetitive loop. The overwhelming visual experience interrogates the ways in which we manufacture notions of paradise in contemporary culture. This work offers a reflection on an earthly heaven as an idyllic place, particularly through the lens of popular culture imagery. Through short video clips that feature palm trees, entertainers, expensive products and western notions of beauty, our conception of paradise is thus synonymous with materialism, youth, fame and luxury.
