Leiblichkeit & Sexualität

Votivkirche, Vienna, Austria, 2014
Curated by David Rastas

The words that have been painstakingly scratched with charcoal on a 72 meter scroll of paper have all been taken from the writings of Bob Dylan, Jack Kerouac, Leonard Cohen, Patti Smith and the Song of Solomon. The imagery in the contemporary writers is remarkably similar to the story that unfolds in the biblical romance. The beauty in Drummond’s arrangement is that the words appear as one long poem as if written by the same hand. The work, as it wraps around the walls of six chapels, draws our attention toward the profound message of love present in each of the poet’s writing and the notion that all great inspiration comes from a single source.
