Leiblichkeit & Sexualität

Votivkirche, Vienna, Austria, 2014
Curated by David Rastas

Kastenmann Pink (Box Man - Pink), reflects the insecurities and boundaries within the individual, exploring the way in which we perceive ourselves in comparison to how others perceive us. The coat jacket used to envelop the box becomes defined by surface, omitting direct attention to mass and instead to the knitted texture of the bright pink jacket that tightly wraps the anthropomorphic-turned-geometric figure. The architectural-like structure acts as yet another skin, creating a relationship between the inner and outer, and its position in front of an altar, sees the body blocking our approach to God.
